James 1:1
“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.”
Notice how James didn’t pull rank in the opening of his book. Maybe we would open it differently. We might tell everyone that we are Jesus’ brother if we were James. He doesn’t mention it. Notice what he does say about himself “a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ”. Did you catch that ”a servant” are we? Do we think we out-rank other believers because we preach? Sing? Teach Sunday School? Take the offering? Etc…We are servants. Lastly, notice he calls his brother Lord. Is Jesus your Lord? What a great question to end this devotion.
